When considering how to resolve any issue, my work centers around the best interest of the client.

A detail-oriented person with strong research and writing skills, Courtney pursued a career in law to make the best use of her talents to help others. She recognizes the importance of effective communication and stays in close contact with clients and colleagues. Those who work with her appreciate her positive and transparent communication style.

Courtney is primed to assist on litigation matters across various areas of law. She brings experience researching and assisting in drafting judicial opinions on a wide range of civil and criminal cases. Before joining Socius, Courtney served as a law clerk to the Honorable Marlin J. Appelwick of the Washington State Court of Appeals. She worked closely with Judge Appelwick to draft case memoranda for a three-judge panel. Courtney also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable James L. Robart of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

In private practice, she has worked on disputes involving environmental, real estate, tribal, tort, construction, and complex divorce issues.

Courtney previously worked as a legal extern for Legal Voice, a non-profit organization that pursues justice for women and LGBTQ people across the Northwest. She is passionate about its mission and continues to volunteer for the organization.
