REAL ESTATE AND CONSTRUCTION

Real estate transactions and construction projects involve substantial assets and often face tight deadlines and complex legal issues. With a deep understanding of real estate development and the construction industry, we provide the sophisticated and practical advice necessary to keep them moving forward.

Many of our clients are family businesses that own or develop real estate, including multi-family and mixed-use projects, shopping centers, industrial parks, and office developments. We also represent individual and institutional purchasers, sellers, landlords, and tenants; lenders and borrowers in real property-secured financing transactions; and a broad range of real estate investors. From a straightforward lease renewal to more complex matters such as site acquisition, financing or ground-up development, clients rely on us for guidance through all project phases.

We help buyers and sellers negotiate, document and close real estate purchases and sales, including transactions with known or suspected environmental risks. We supervise and facilitate consultants and professional advisors’ efforts in the due diligence process and manage the flow of documents from the inception of negotiations through closing.  Landlords and tenants rely on us to represent them in leasing transactions of all sizes. Lenders and borrowers turn to us for financing advice. We serve as general counsel to many homeowners’ and condominium associations.

Construction projects involve many parties. From owners to contractors, from design professionals to material suppliers, we have represented everyone around the table. This provides us with a valuable perspective as we advise our clients on contracts, project design and construction, and potential disputes.

REAL ESTATE LITIGATION

While our focus is on completing transactions and projects, we are well equipped to represent clients when disputes arise. Over the years, we have represented clients in nearly every type of real estate and construction disputes, including those involving property boundaries, lien priority, construction defects, claims for additional compensation, easements, title, acquisitions, and leases. Bringing deep understanding of the nuances of real estate and construction law, we help to resolve conflicts short of litigation or arbitration whenever possible, including mediation or another form of alternative dispute resolution. If trial or arbitration is necessary, clients can count on our experienced and effective advocacy.
